Recently, the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2026, held in Houston, announced its annual award winners. CNPC Engineering Technology R&D Company Limited won the Spotlight on New Technology Award for its independently-developed UltraSense™ UHTHP bit intelligence and MonoX™ expandable casing technology.

OTC is the world's largest and most technically influential annual event in the offshore oil and gas industry. CNPC’s two award-winning technologies tackle world-class challenges in deep, ultra-deep and complex well drilling. The UltraSense™ innovatively integrates drilling, sensing and decision making into a single process. It overcomes many key barriers, including temperatures up to 215°C, pressures up to 207 MPa, and shocks of ±500 g, extending measurement capabilities to depths of 10,000 meters. Departing from conventional casing design, the MonoX™ expandable casing technology can be employed to seal complex formations without compromising the original wellbore size, ensuring the achievement of geological objectives in deep and ultra-deep formations.
