In April, a local oilfield community park funded by PetroChina (Iraq) Rumaila Company attracted a steady stream of visitors.

Over the years, PetroChina Rumaila has adhered to its green and low-carbon development philosophy, balancing oilfield development with environmental protection. The company has worked with local communities to restore green space in public areas. To adapt to the hot and arid local climate, it selected drought-tolerant plants to ensure long-term greenery. In 2025, a 2,000-square-meter park was completed in the North Rumaila Oilfield community, adding 12,000 square meters of green space, which not only helps to combat desertification, but also creates a more livable environment for local residents and oilfield employees.

In terms of resource management, the company has accelerated the shift to grid-powered electric submersible pumps and adopted advanced produced water reinjection technology to achieve efficient and safe water use. It has also actively promoted low-carbon technologies, effectively reducing carbon emissions. Since 2016, PetroChina Rumaila has reduced gas flaring by approximately 80%.

In terms of environmental governance, PetroChina Rumaila has minimized the impact of its operations through optimized waste treatment processes and continuous environmental monitoring. It has also conducted land remediation, with more than 5.4 million square meters restored.
