GWDC: Green workover in the rainforest

Deep in the Indonesian rainforest, the workover team of CNPC Greatwall Drilling Company (GWDC)'s Indonesia project integrates ecological protection into every step of its daily operations. A full-process, closed-loop environmental management system is in place: equipment is inspected for leaks before work begins; each shift handover follows a "clean-as-you-go" principle, and oily waste and other materials are promptly recycled after operations.

In terms of energy consumption, core equipment such as power swivels and mud pumps are fully electrically driven, cutting diesel use and exhaust emissions. Waste oil is collected in sealed containers, treated and reused as lubricant for tools — achieving resource recovery. Domestic sewage is turned over to licensed local third-party processors. Instead of building temporary camps, the team rents nearby houses for accommodation, further reducing unnecessary energy consumption.

From careful on-site controls to a full-process environmental framework, the workover team of GWDC's Indonesia Project has turned every green commitment into action. By doing so, it has earned CNPC a responsible and sustainable international image overseas.
