On May 16, Newfield Exploration Company NFX and the Newfield Foundation announced the donation of USD50,000 to the Red Cross Society of China to help victims of the recent earthquake in Sichuan Province.
"Thousands of people have lost their lives," said Sheng Ding, general manager and chief representative of Newfield China, LDC. "Schools, factories, residential areas and highways in the quake-hit areas have been severely damaged or destroyed. We want to make a difference for the better by helping people in these devastated areas with our donation."
Newfield Exploration Company is an independent crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. Newfield's wholly-owned subsidiary, Newfield China, LDC, has been operating in China since 1997 and opened a Beijing office in 2006. CNPC and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) are Newfield's major business partners in China.
