Four CNPC fire fighting and disaster rescue crews head for the disaster-hit areas

After the occurrence of Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan, CNPC required all its professional fire brigades to be in first-degree combat readiness and well-prepared to take part in rescue activities. Currently, four disaster relief brigades consisting of full-time firefighters have been organized, 2 of which have already been put into disaster relief activities.

At 20:09 on May 13, a disaster rescue crew of 22 members from Lanzhou Petrochemical headed for Sichuan, driving seven vehicles for firefighting and disaster rescue. Another rescue crew consisting of 28 full-time firefighters from Chongqing and Suining fire brigades under Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company, equipped with large-sized break-down devices, began to march to Deyang in Sichuan Province for rescue at 08:40 on May 14.

CNPC required all brigades, which are ready to participate in disaster relief, to instantly check all fire fighting vehicles, devices and personal protective tools, replenish relief materials in a timely manner, earnestly carry out the safeguard measures and requirements, follow the order of setting out at any moment. Disaster rescue brigades of Changqing Oilfield Company and Urumqi Petrochemical Company have also finished their preparations and are waiting for the departure order from State Safety Production and Emergency Rescue Command Center.
