CNPC donates US$1.9 million to Sudan

CNPC signed a donation agreement with the Sudanese Ministry of Welfare and Social Development in Khartoum on January 31 to offer US$1 million to improve the condition of social institutions and facilities in Sudan.

CNPC President Jiang Jiemin said at the signing ceremony that the company observes the principle of mutual benefit and common development, and will continue to contribute to the growth of the Sudanese economy and welfare activities.

Sudanese Minister of Welfare and Social Development Samia Mohammed said that CNPC top management came to the ministry to offer to establish a fund in support of those in need. She added that the ministry will consult with the company to make good use of the funds.

CNPC also signed an agreement with the Sudanese Ministry of Energy and Mining, under which it will earmark US$900,000 to train Sudanese oil professionals.

CNPC, which began its business in Sudan in 1995, has donated more than US$30 million to charitable activities in the country.
