CNPC orderly responses to the strong earthquake in Sichuan

In the wake of the quake disaster in southwest China, CNPC immediately took urgent measures to make emergency employment. On May 12, CNPC issued an emergency telegraph with plain codes to call for disaster relief and enhancing management on safe operation. An emergency headquarters is established while launching the emergency plan, to effectively evacuate people, distribute rescue goods and materials, and to ensure normal order of production with unrelenting efforts.

The notice asks all professional companies and entities to take effective measures to minimize the damage caused by the disaster and pay close attention to the forecast on earthquake information and give priority to people's safety; take strict precautions against aftershock and enhance in-disaster monitoring and countermeasures; strengthen production management and try best to ensure the normal operation and supply of oil products and gas; disaster rescue agencies including fire fighting groups should be well-prepared to take part in local disaster relief activities; be ready to carry out such actions CNPC shall positively coordinate with local government for arranging local disaster-hit people to maintain the normal order of life; enhance safety management and anti-terrorist works in key sections and critical facilities; and reinforce security management in mining communities in quake-hit areas to ensure a stable social order.
