| | CNPC has built a comprehensive system for well logging technology research and development, equipment development, software development and operation services. A large-scale integrated software system for well logging data acquisition, processing and interpretation, as well as ancillary technologies such as a micro-resistivity scanner, ultrasonic imaging, and array induction imaging logging, has been developed. In addition, production logging technology suitable for dynamic monitoring in high water-cut oilfield development has been developed.
We have accumulated rich experience and knowledge in dealing with complex logging data processing and interpretation such as low porosity and low permeability reservoirs, low resistivity reservoirs, and water-flooded formations.
In 2005, mass production and widespread application of the EI-Log-05 logging unit was realized. In 2007, we made a breakthrough in applying EI-Log, an integrated logging unit which we developed, and widely deployed integrated conventional well logging technologies. Together with EI-Log, we deployed LEAD2.0, a processing and interpretation software application that incorporates several functions. This allowed us to create a method for interpreting logging data in low porosity and low permeability sandstone reservoirs, and a well-logging technique to identify and assess water-flooded layers, low-resistance reservoirs, fractured reservoirs and natural gas reservoirs.
In addition, a prototype of a new logging outfit was developed. Remote exploration and acoustic reflection well logging were proved in several tests conducted in well Gangshen 6 of the Dagang Oilfield and well Gugu 8 of the Shengli Oilfield. Compared to conventional acoustic logging in which the radial investigation depth is no more than three meters, the new equipment yielded a radial investigation depth of up to 10 meters.
