Geophysical Prospecting 
We possess seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation technologies applicable to complicated land and subsurface geological conditions, especially in seismic data acquisition under various complicated land surface conditions.

We acquired and improved integrated exploration technologies such as integrated geophysical prospecting in mountainous terrain, seismic exploration in desert areas, seismic exploration for carbonate rocks, high-precision 3D seismic exploration, seismic exploration in shallow water areas, integrated geophysical and geochemical prospecting, and multi-wave and multi-component seismic exploration.

CNPC's Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting (BGP) developed seven integrated geophysical prospecting solutions, focusing on data acquisition and integrated processing and interpretation (PAI technologies), which can offer integrated solutions for seismic prospecting in complex mountains, deserts, transitional zones, loess tablelands and onshore pay zones, as well as onshore seismic for reservoir description and 3D GME (Gravity, Magnetic, and Electrical), providing oil companies with excellent integrated technical services.

CNPC's proprietary GEO-East software has been upgraded to V1.2, which integrates seismic data processing and interpretation functions and uses MBS (Migration Before Stack) imaging. It now possesses more sophisticated functions and is ready for massive deployment and application.

When highly precise 3D seismic prospecting technologies were introduced to the Tarim platform area and the central and eastern parts of the Junggar Basin, SNR (Signal/Noise Ratio) and resolution were significantly improved for the seismic prospecting data obtained from the complex fault blocks and subtle reservoirs.

Application of MBS imaging was promoted, seismic prospecting was improved, and measuring and navigation technologies in tidal and shallow water regions were further upgraded. All this resulted in significant oil and gas discoveries in the Jidong tidal and shallow water regions. Technologies to interpret carbonate buried hills and reservoirs were also improved.

  Industrial Application of Prestack Seismic Reservoir Description

While studying prestack reservoir description technology, a series of unique technologies in seismic-based petrophysical analysis, preserved amplitude processing of seismic data, prestack effective reservoir prediction and hydrocarbon detection were developed, and they were applied in a series of oil-and-gas-bearing basins. Prestack processing and composite interpretation was completed on 6,265 kilometers of 2D seismic data and 1,010 square kilometers of 3D seismic data in the Ordos, Sichuan, Tarim, Qaidam and Bohai Bay basins, helping to prove 210 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves. Tested by 43 wells actually drilled, the application delivered a 90% hit rate of effective reservoir prediction and an 85% hit rate of hydrocarbon detection.
