We focus on the centralized and professional production of polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester and acrylon to minimize the fluctuation of facilities resulting from the changing of product grades, while also paying more attention to turning the technological advantages of our products to our advantage on the market.

In 2007, we increased the production of high value-added products oriented to market demand, and also focused on synthetic resin and synthetic fiber for structural optimization and the development of new products. We accelerated the integration of our chemical marketing network and enhanced the development of chemical markets in northeastern, northwestern and northern China.

Our chemical production facilities ran at a high load. The ethylene recovery rate, fuel & electricity consumption, and other key technical and economic indices were continuously improved. We produced 2.58 million metric tons of ethylene, 24.6% more than in 2006. In addition, 13 chemical products including ABS, ethylene oxide, polybutadiene rubber, acrylon, butanone, polyester, Terylene and benzene were included in the centralized marketing system. Throughout the year, 15.6 million metric tons of chemical products were sold, which is 15% more than in 2006.

2007 was a peak construction period for large production bases and major projects in our refining and chemicals sector. The following major chemical projects were completed and inaugurated:

  400kt/a aromatic extraction unit at Lanzhou Petrochemical
