In 2007, CNPC processed 121.73 million metric tons of crude oil in the domestic market. The annual refined products output reached 76.81 million metric tons, of which gasoline accounted for 24.66 million metric tons, kerosene for 3.22 million metric tons, and diesel for 48.93 million metric tons.

Refining

Our key technical and economic indices were further improved in 2007. Refining facilities ran steadily at a high utilization rate of over 98%.

We constructed and commissioned three 10-million-ton grade refining bases, including Dalian Petrochemical Company, which is the largest crude oil processing base in China with an annual primary processing capacity of 20.5 million metric tons, as well as Dalian West Pacific Petrochemical Company and Lanzhou Petrochemical Company. A total of 12 five-million-ton grade refineries were also established. The average processing capacity of each of our refineries was increased to 5.36Mt/a in 2007 from 3Mt/a in 2002. The overall primary processing capacity increased to 140Mt/a.

The quality of automobile gasoline and diesel was further enhanced, and many more high added-value products were generated. In 2007, the diesel-gasoline ratio reached 1.98 and the percentage of high octane content gasoline was 47%. All our gasoline products reached the G-II emission standard, and gasoline supplied to Beijing met the G-IV emission standard.

In 2007, the Soralchin refinery, CNPC's joint venture with Algerian state oil company Sonatrach, was completed and put into operation, boosting our overseas crude processing capacity to 11.6Mt/a. We processed 9.16 million metric tons of oil in 2007, an increase of 11.7% compared with the previous year.

Marketing

We continued to improve our retail sales, selling 82.80 million metric tons of refined products in 2007. Our retail volume reached 54.82 million metric tons, an increase of 16.6% compared with the previous year. The number of our service stations increased to 18,648 by the end of 2007.

  Lubricants

CNPC will gradually expand the export markets of marine, automobile and industrial lubricants. Our marketing structure for lubricants was significantly improved, and the market position and value of the "Kunlun" brand were further consolidated and enhanced. Total sales reached 2.05 million metric tons, including 795,000 metric tons of packaged lubricant and 949,000 metric tons of high-grade lube oil, accounting for 46.3% of the total sales in 2007.
