Well Logging and Testing

In 2007, CNPC had 203 well logging, mud logging and testing crews working in 22 overseas markets including Sudan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Indonesia. Our overseas service crews completed well logging 2,792 well-times.

In 2007, our overseas service crews completed well logging 2,792 well-times. We explored new markets in Chad, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Breakthroughs were made in the high-end offshore service sector. We conducted offshore mud logging in Libya and well logging operations in Iran. We successfully entered the NIOC offshore well logging market in Iran, winning OMV testing and PTTEP mud logging projects.

In Sudan, we introduced LWD /MWD in our operation at Block 3/7 of PDOC (Petrodar Operating Company Ltd.); our findings in low-resistance strata have added more than 2 million metric tons of oil in place to Neem Oilfield at Block 1/2/4. In Oman, we successfully completed electric imaging well logging in the ultra-long horizontal well section of Shell's well L-620, despite the extended measurement time, considerable formation leakage, and susceptibility to instrument sticking and damage. In Niger, with our expertise and accurate calculation of the tension, we successfully overcame the sticking and accelerated the completion operation for well SAHA-1 by using various non-fishing measures.
