| On behalf of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), I would like to extend my warmest greetings to our employees, also the retired ones as well as their families, and give my sincere thanks to our friends who have consistently supported the development of CNPC. Thank you for your invaluable contribution to the company.
In 2007, State leaders have successively made 10 visits to CNPC's subsidiaries, both at home & abroad, which brought greetings, cares and instructions, indicating the great importance attached by the Central government to the energy industry. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, CNPC resolutely studied and carried out decisions made during the seventeenth CPC National Congress, comprehensively implemented the scientific development outlook, carried forward the Daqing Spirit & Iron Man Spirit, countered difficulties and hardly strived for development that was aimed as sustainable, effective, relatively fast, and coordinated. CNPC witnessed a series of strategic discoveries in oil & gas exploration, with an increase in oil & gas production by one million tons and ten billion cubic meters respectively. Key projects moved forward smoothly, and we have made important achievements in the construction of oil & gas strategic pipelines in the northeast, northwest, southwest and offshore areas. The construction of our domestic oil & gas pipeline network has been developed smoothly, and the Beijing Oil & Gas Control Center has started to operate, gradually forming an integrated oil & gas structure for better coordination. The strategic adjustment on our refinery layout and framework led to substantially increased crude runs, refined products & sales, and natural gas sales. With the launching and development of new projects and strategic cooperation, our oversea oil & gas business also continued to grow rapidly, generating stable growth in oil & gas production as well as total international trade volume. Furthermore, security situation has been getting better and more stable, innovation capability has been continuously developed, and the integration process has been taken place orderly.
In 2008, we will continue to follow our principle of "Caring for energy, caring for you", set our goal and mission as to build an integrated international energy corporation, and to provide stable domestic oil & gas supply. We will grasp opportunities for development, actively face challenges, and pursue our strategic goals of seeking more resources, expanding our markets, implementing internationalization, strengthening our capacity for sustainable development, and improving our capabilities in terms of resource security, efficiency, technological innovation, management, internal control, and human-resource development. By actively promoting the construction of an energy-conservation and environmentally friendly corporation, we shall take further steps in scientific and sustainable development; also make greater contributions to the nation's energy security and the building of a well-off society.
