On June 29, N'djamena refinery, Chad's first, was completed and went on stream, marking the full operation of the first phase of CNPC's 1Mt/a upstream and downstream integrated project, and the realization of Chad's energy independence.

Chadian President Idriss Deby and Prime Minister Emmanuel Nadingar attended the commissioning ceremony. On behalf of CNPC and the company President Jiang Jiemin, PetroChina Vice President Bo Qiliang delivered a speech at the ceremony.

The first phase of CNPC's 1Mt/a upstream and downstream integrated project includes the construction of an oilfield and a refinery with the annual capacity of one million tons respectively, as well as a 311km-long crude pipeline. As Chad's largest joint venture and industrial enterprise, also the second largest refinery constructed by CNPC overseas, N'djamena refinery mainly produces gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, LNG and polypropylene.
