On October 1, construction of the initial compressor station of Central Asia-China Gas Pipeline started in Kashkadarya, Uzbekistan.
Compressor station functions as the "heart" of the gas pipeline, receiving gas from upstream and conveying gas downstream after compression. According to the construction plan, China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation (CPECC) will complete supply of water, electricity and road and leveled ground, as well as foundation casting and underground concealed engineering of two compressor units by the end of 2008. The compressor units will be installed in July 2009, then put into trial operation in mid-November and ready for operation by December 15.
