| On November 16, Dalian LNG Terminal welcomed its first LNG carrier "Expedient", indicating that the trial operation of Dalian LNG project is formally commenced. |
 | Project Introduction |
| | Located on the Dagushan peninsula in Dalian city, Liaoning province, Dalian LNG Terminal covers an area of 21.6 hectares. Independently designed, procured, constructed and managed, the project boasts the most advanced technology, most complete functions, highest domestic manufacture rate, minimum site area and lowest investment in China. With functions including LNG unloading, storage, gasification, external transportation, and tanker loading, Dalian LNG terminal is China's only LNG terminal with loading capacity.
Construction of Dalian LNG project was started in April 2008 and completed in April 2011. The project is composed of a dock, receiving terminals and gas pipelines. The first phase of the receiving terminal has a construction scale of 3 million tons per year and designed annual deliverability of 4.2 billion cubic meters. The second phase will have a construction scale of 6 million tons per year and designed annual deliverability of 8.4 billion cubic meters. When the whole project is completed, the terminal will be capable of receiving 10 million tons and deliver 13.5 billion cubic meters every year. | | Dalian's LNG sources are mainly from Qatar, Australia and Iran. After gasification at the terminal, natural gas supply can be connected to China's northeastern and northern pipeline networks through the pipeline from Dalian to Shenyang, to cover Northeast China and part of North China. |
Dock
The dock has a total length of 446 meters, including a 150 meters long trestle. The largest open LNG terminal in China, it is capable of parking the world's biggest LNG carrier. Construction of the dock was started on March 1, 2009, and completed on August 29, 2010. |
Terminal
There are three storage tanks in the LNG project, each with a storage capacity of 160,000 cubic meters, making the effective storage capacity totaling 480,000 cubic meters. 84 meters in diameter and 51 meters in height, each storage tank can actually store 160,000 cubic meters of LNG at an ultra-low temperature of minus 162 degrees Celsius. |
Pipelines
In the short term, Dalian LNG terminal will serve as the major gas supply source for Liaoning province and secure gas supply in Northeast China and the Bohai rim region. Whereas in the long term, it will be connected to Shaan-Jing gas pipeline, Northeast gas pipeline, Russia-China gas pipeline, North China underground gas storage, and Tangshan LNG project, to form a complementary gas supply pattern that enjoys multiple supply sources. |
