| | | On October 12, 2004, CNPC officially acquired the NK exploration block and a 50% holding in the SLK Oilfield from Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC). The contracted blocks cover a total area of 3,332 square kilometers. KUFPEC is the operator of NK exploration block and CTKCP is the operator of SLK Oilfield.
An integrated geophysical and geological study has been conducted for NK exploration block. In 2007, exploration well CNE-3 was drilled, in the Chorbane East structure in Block NK and jointly operated by CNPCIT and KUFPEC.
The SLK Oilfield, about 190 kilometers south of the capital city, was in the middle-to-latter development stage. In 2007, we maintained stable annual production at the field by taking a series of effective measures, including intensifying production performance analysis and dynamic reservoir monitoring, producing with a rational recovery rate to control the water cut and moderating the production decline. |
