| | | Successful Industrial Application of a Technology Package for the Production of High-end Lube Oil Base using Hydrogenation Isodewaxing | | A hydrogenation isodewaxing process and catalyst independently developed in China for lube oil base production has seen its successful industrial application on a 200kt/a high-pressure hydrogenation unit at CNPC's Daqing Refining & Petrochemical Company. Since it passed an industrial operation assessment in August 2009, the unit has processed more than 100,000 metric tons of crude oil and produced nearly 90,000 metric tons of high-end lube oil base. In addition to its vast economic benefits, it plays an important role in conserving energy and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.
China's development of isodewaxing catalysts and its processes over the past decade has given birth to some new molecular sieve materials, breakthroughs in industrial preparation technologies, and nine patents, in addition to PIC802, a highly active new isodewaxing catalyst that enables a high recovery rate of heavy base oil. Through industrial practice, a new type of high-grade PS white oil suitable for food applications and a new process for 5cst type-III base oil used to produce 5W/40 multi-grade high-end lube oil have been developed.
The successful industrial application of the isodewaxing technology package indicates a major breakthrough that CNPC has made in lube oil production technologies. It significantly improved the quality and production of lube oil base, and offers technological support to strengthen the overall market competitiveness of CNPC's products. | | |
