CNPC developed China's first 10k-plus-channel seismic acquisition and recording system. A 2,000-channel engineering prototype has passed comparative field trials and a performance test run, demonstrating a capacity to sample 20,000 data channels in 2 milliseconds.

The new seismic apparatus can transmit data at a speed as high as 40Mbps, up to 2-5 times faster than any mainstream products available today. Its unique function of real-time online testing of geophone has greatly improved field operation efficiency.

A total of 1,360 shots were made in a 3D acquisition carried out in the first comparative field trial in February 2009, proving the system's capacity to collect 20,000 data channels in 2 milliseconds with the ability of high-speed data transmission and the online testing functions of the geophone. The host software system delivered the complete functions of field spread control and monitoring, data acquisition, and recording. The system was applied in Tuha Oilfield in November 2009, delivering Hi-Fi and high SNR field data. With this project, CNPC has applied for 17 patents, and owns four copyright registrations, 16 proprietary technologies, and nine accepted patents.
