Daqing Oilfield has thoroughly applied the Scientific Outlook on Development, actively promoted strategies of “sustainable and effective development to create a Century-old Oilfield”, and seriously implemented its social responsibilities as a large state-owned enterprise. It has determined effective protection of the regional ecological environment and realization of environment-friendly and clean-saving pattern of growth as fundamental ways to promote the strategy of a “Century-old Oilfield”. It has formed an environmental protection system of “taking environmental protection concepts as the lead, the scientific planning as the guide, input increase as a safeguard, the field monitoring as a method, waste reduction and benefits increase as objectives, and the reinforcement of emergency treatment as a focus point ”. It has maintained good production and environmental protection, and gradually created a new level of oilfield protection. Daqing Oilfield is honored as a Special Contribution Unit of Daqing Creating National Environmental Protection Model City, and an Environment-friendly Enterprise of Heilongjiang Province.
1. Water environment protection
The Daqing Oilfield has established a large industrial sewage treatment system, with treatment and re-injection capacity of wastewater of 0.4 billion cubic meters, and realized sustainable utilization of water resources.
In 2007, the Changyuan Biochemical Treatment Station of Oily Wastewater (with processing capacity of 30, 000 cubic meters/day) and its system engineering were established and put into operation. It solved the biochemical treatment problem of waste water containing polymers, realized the synthetic deployment of waste water in Saertu oil field and achieved the goals of decreasing costs and saving water resources.
Daqing Oilfield has undertaken its social responsibilities, and invested to establish a Plant for Treating Urban Sewage with total processing capacity of 160, 000 cubic meters / day.
Daqing Oilfield has been dedicated to improving the regional water environment quality, that has changed the Chengfeng Lake, Bilu Lake, Guowu Lake, etc. accepting treated sewage into beautiful ecological lakes.
 
2. Atmosphere environment protection
Daqing Oilfield has seriously carried out China’s reducing pollution policies. At the time of constructing the project of cogeneration of heat, electricity, central heating system and the project of regional heating system replacing oil with coal, it has slated cooling towers of six machines that sets in Longfeng Thermal Power Plant for demolition. The annual sulfur dioxide emissions have fallen by 1416 tons and the rate of smoke gas to the discharge standards has reached to 100%.
Daqing Oilfield has established Lamadian Gas Storages, and implemented the model of summer-injecting and winter-producing. The annual recycling rate of natural gas is 0.1 billion cubic meters.
 
3. Soil environment protection
Daqing Oilfield has established complete facilities of comprehensive utilization and treatment of industrial solid wastes to deposit and process the industrial solid wastes produced by the oil field centrally. All waste mud have been treated harmlessly and resourcefully, with
500, 000 cubic meters of annual treatment capacity.
 
4. Ecological environment protection
Daqing Oilfield has planted trees, flowers, laid lawns, man-made green fences and constructed ecological gardens according to the total strategies of creating a green oilfield. The blue sky, green trees and green grass of the oilfield have enhanced each other’s natural beauty and been harmoniously beautiful.
 
5. Environmental emergency treatment
In order to guarantee the environment security of the oilfield, Daqing Oilfield has formed a preparedness system of environmental protection, mainly based on overall preplans and supplemented by specific preplans. It has organized large exercises and professional exercises such as the Exercise of Oil Spilled into Songhua River. Its environmental emergency treatment work has gained a good reputation with the Environmental Protection Bureau and Maritime Bureau of Heilongjiang Province.
 
6. Environment monitoring and evaluation
The Environment Monitoring and Evaluating Center of the Daqing Oilfield has established environment monitoring laboratories, accepting national measurement qualification, which can carry out environment monitoring to ten environment factors and 125 programs. It has used National Grade A Environmental Assessment. It can undertake environmental impact assessment of extraction, petrochemicals and medicine, as well as social areas and construction projects of the transport sector and also undertake planning environmental impact assessment.
 
7. Fewer discharge of wastewater and oil and constructing green oil field
Daqing Oilfield has carried out activities with theme of “fewer discharge of wastewater and oil and constructing green oil field”. During these activities, a group of the Group Company green and advanced environment stations (teams) have emerged, which were represented by 107 well service team, 70150 drilling team, Changyuan Biochemical Treatment Station of Oily Wastewater, etc., making the construction of green oil field develop all of the various aspects in the basic level.
 
8. Cleaner production and environmental-friendly enterprise
The Daqing Oilfield has continued to follow a new road of industrialization of high technology content, high economic returns, low resource consumption, less environmental pollution and bringing manpower resources advantage into play fully. Its cleaner production reached an advanced level in similar domestic industries. In 2009, it was honored as an “Environment-friendly Enterprise” by Environmental Protection Office of Heilongjiang Province. It has practiced its concept of “devoting energy to create harmony” in real action.
