Daqing Oilfield is a worldwide famous oilfield and it is also the biggest domestic oilfield which is considered to be a remarkable symbol of Chinese industry. In September 1959, the oil spray of Songji-3 well indicated the naissance of Daqing Oilfield. In the early stage of the 1960’s, with complicated international affairs, tough natural environment and tight material conditions, following the strategic decision of Central Committee and the State Council and the leadership of petroleum ministry, depending on the support of people throughout the country and The People's Liberation Army, Daqing Oilfield carried out a great oil encounter. A great number of petroleum workers such as iron-man Wang Jinxi devoted themselves to the Oilfield with patriotism and heroic spirit, to take the dedication spirit of "would rather live 20 years less to win the largest oilfield", to take the heroism of “must be done with conditions, must be done too by creation of conditions”, they worked energetically and productively to a high standard, in tough conditions, and developed a large oilfield in only 3 years. Since 1976, Daqing Oilfield has produced 50 million tons of crude oil per year for the past 27 years, which became a miracle in the world；took first place on the recovery ratio of crude oil, by using world’s leading development technologies，the recovery ratio has broken through 50% which is nearly 10-15% higher than the other oilfields；took the first place on paying taxes and fees, accumulated up to 1.6 trillion yuan. And is placed first for China’s one hundred enterprises for paying taxes over years.
During the oil encounter and a long-term development practice, Daqing not only achieved enormous material wealth for the country, but also cultivated the Daqing Spirit and Iron-man Spirit as a traditional work-style. Daqing Spirit is the product of the learning’s of Mao Zedong Thought and inheriting the excellent tradition of the Chinese Working Class and PLA in tough development conditions, it’s an important part of the Chinese nation’s spirit. It is essential to win honor for the motherland and the nation, paddle our own canoe and struggle with difficulties with a scientific attitude, keep an overall judgment and dedicate to the country.
