1、Daqing spirit
 Daqing spirit is the essence of the corporate culture and is the integral reflection of ethics, values and working styles of staff in Daqing Oilfield Company. Daqing spirit came into being during the 1960s, when the gallant pioneering quest began, and the spirit was also regarded as one of the most important components of the nation’s spirits. No matter in the past, at present or in the future, Daqing spirit will always be the mental inspiration and motivation for the staff in Daqing.
Daqing spirit was progressively enriched with the development of the oilfield. An editorial published on the 20th, April, 1964 in ‘the People’s Daily’ pointed out that ‘Daqing spirit is the revolutionary spirit of proletariat, and the people of Daqing were born with extremely tough faith, in other words, equipped with the revolutionary spirit of proletariat. Daqing spirit and the hard workers in Daqing are all respectable models for the whole nation to learn  and follow.’ and that was the first time when Daqing spirit was proposed. On the 18th, December, 1981, a document issued by the government, named as ‘report of following the industrial model of Daqing’, summarized the Daqing spirit as progressive, independent, conscientious, scientific and sacrificial, besides, the document also pointed out that the contributions of Daqing oilfield to the nation attributed greatly to the revolutionary spirit and moral ethics, to patriotism and national pride held by the Daqing people, to their brave heroism, and their sense of responsibility. On the 25th, September, 1989, in a telegraph sent by the state council to congratulate Daqing for the 30-year anniversary of discovery, the state council pointed out that ‘Daqing spirit is inherited from the China’s liberation army traditions, and is formed during the practice of socialism industrial construction, the spirit should be taken as mental treasure of the nation and should be carried on generation by generation.’ In February, 1990, President Jiang Zemin summarized Daqing spirit as ‘patriotic, pioneering, honest and contributive’.Entering a new period, patriotic, pioneering, honest and contributive has been taken as the corporate culture of CNPC, and the connotation of the slogan implies that: patriotic---devoting to one’s own duties and contributing to the country; pioneering---working diligently and aggressively to get the best results; honest---being practical and realistic to promote managerial levels and technological levels; contributive--- staff contribute to the company and the company contribute to the society, clients, staff and investors.
2、Iron man spirit
 Iron man spirit is the integral reflection of the honorable thoughts and moral ethics of the hero in Daqing----iron man Wang, and is also the representative for all of the petroleum industrious workers in China, the iron man spirit is one of the major components of Daqing spirit, which is only more specific and personified. The connotation of iron man spirit is that : patriotism, quoting what iron man Wang said, ‘to alleviate the nation’s burdens and to fight for the pride of the nation’; selfless struggling, quoted as ‘ to sacrifice 20-year’s life to fight for the successful development of the oilfield’, and ‘ to throw the bad name of petroleum deficiency in China into the pacific ocean’; hard work, quoted as ‘ under whatever conditions, never cease working until success’; accuracy, quoted as ‘be responsible for the oilfield all through one’s life’ , ‘the work done should be capable to undertake the checks by future generations’; and last but not the least, ‘buffalo spirit’, meaning being diligent and conscientious in serving others. Iron man spirit is a product from both the pioneering struggle period and the new period of socialism construction. The iron man spirit will always be the motivation for staff in Daqing oilfield.
