|  The development of Daqing Oilfield has been driven by continuous technology progress with a great number of independent technical innovations. During it’s nearly 50 years of development, especially since China’s reform and opening over the last 30 years, Daqing Oilfield has developed a world leading set of geological theories on exploration and production of large-scale non-homogeneous multi-layer continental sandstone reservoir  by pursuing continuous technical progress and technical innovations. The oil production was brought up to and maintained at above 50,000,000 ton/a for 27 years, which gave a strong impetus to the development of Chinese economy over various periods. After many years of practices on research and development, a complete set of technological innovation systems which consists of technical policy management, R&D, new technology transit and implement has been shaped. An effective technology management system has also been formed on a kernel principle of forward-looking planning, flexible and high-efficient organization, process management, incentive  mechanism, knowledge-sharing platform, resource, and corporate culture of innovation. In 2006, Daqing Oilfield was awarded the first prize in national enterprise management innovation for its Management of Independent Technological Innovation to sustain the long-productive oilfield. In 2007, Daqing Oilfield was named as one of the most innovation companies of China and awarded the National Industry Prize of China. Daqing Oilfield possesses strong R&D resources including 4 corporate level R&D institutes majoring in exploration and production, oilfield surface production facilities, artificial lifting and water injection, drilling, as well as 61 subsidiary level test laboratories, such as geographical prospecting and logging. Daqing Oilfield has established a perfect research laboratory platform including 9 R&D bases on exploration and production of lithological reservoir and deep volcanic rock reservoir, water flooding of high water cut mature oil field, and EOR, as well as 25 key laboratories majoring in geological exploration, drilling fluid, cementing, surfactant for ASP flooding, microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR), artificial lifting. The 9 R&D bases and key laboratories now own 2800 sets of large instrument and equipments. By end of 2008, Daqing Oilfield has built a R&D human resource of up to 30,000 petroleum engineers majoring in various relevant subjects including 2 Chinese academy of engineering, 24 senior experts of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), 85 corporate level experts, 783 subsidiary level experts, the R&D human resource also includes 1585 personnel with ph.D. or MSc. as well as more than 19,000 personnel with intermediate or senior  professional licenses. R&D of Daqing Oilfield has made great technical progress. It has formed a complete set of kernel technical expertise of which some have been awarded with intellectual property rights. It has completed 7900 R&D projects. Among which 120 projects are recognized at national level, 640 projects are recognized at provincial/ministerial level, and more than 1800 items has awarded the national/Chinese (DOCL) patent. The achievements of oilfield exploration and production on large-scale continental non-homogeneous sandstone reservoir have ranked the leading position in the world, and it has been put into the history book together with “two Chinese atomic bombs and one artificial satellite”. the company has developed three geological theories and related application technologies: the theory and technology of deep-layer complicated gas reservoir exploration has brought a big breakthrough on deep gas reservoir exploration; the theory and technology for synclinal lithological reservoir exploration has opened up a new situation of hidden reservoir exploration; the theory and technology for fault basin oil and gas reservoirs has found high production fault block and buried hill reservoir. 

Daqing Oilfield developed a complete set of oil production technologies including EOR to water flooding, polymer flooding to APS flooding, for high efficiency oil extraction at oil recovery rate. The technology of detail description of the reservoir has formed a set of geological model building and simulation technology with Daqing characteristics; the production technology of multilayer reservoir subdivision has realized highly effective development of heterogeneous multilayer reservoir; the supplementary technology of polymer flooding in extreme high water cut period which has built the biggest base of EOR in the world; effective development technology in extremely low permeability oilfield has used more than 3 billon tons in the reservoir with low efficiency and difficulty in production; enhanced oil recovery technology for APS flooding has become mature, and now it is ongoing industrialized field trials. 

Daqing Oilfield has developed a series of oilfield service technologies such as in drilling, well cementing, geophysical exploration, logging etc. which has already reached national advanced level, part of the technologies already reached the leading level of national and world leading level, it has played important role in keeping oil production stable and overseas market developmened. Drilling and well completion technologies series have formed which represent as horizontal well of low abundance reservoirs, nearly under-balanced drilling for volcanic reservoirs. It has formed geophysical exploration technological series making complex exploration as a target and represented by high-resolution 3D seismic; it has formed well logging and testing technologies represented by water-flooded formation well-logging with high-resolution, complicated oil/water zone with integrated interpretation. 
The engineering construction technology represented by duplex phase stainless steel high-pressure gas pipeline construction, 10,000m3 large scale oil storage tank automatic construction has been formed, part of the technologies have reached the leading level in similar industries, it has provided technical support for oilfield development and open up internal and external markets. 
Daqing Oilfield has developed a new type of energy-saving oil pumping unit of highly reliability double-horse head and low frequency of stroke. It developed serial products of submersible electric pump unit, such as perforating gun, perforating charge and perforating funicular line etc. The manufacturing technology of specialized car for oilfield is close to the domestic leading level in the same industry. 
The high-tech products and production application process of surfactant and Anti-scaling & de-scaling agent for ASP flooding and the chemicals for oilfield based on independent research, development and innovation have been researched and developed. Stimulating chemicals such as all related benzyl sulforate surfactant for ASP flooding, production chemicals such as scale remover for ASP flooding produced fluid. 
It has formed engineering technology of water treatment and hydro-geology, the safe operation technology on power generation, power supply and heat supply, and digital communication and network of the oilfield. 
The progress of engineering technology has pushed forward the opening up of the overseas market. Overseas oil engineering technical services has realized the rapid development; it already has 300 crews which have worked in 28 countries and regions, and 29 different provinces and regions in our country. The drilling business has entered into the international market such as America, Venezuela and Sudan. Oilfield construction enterprise has involved 20 national-level key projects including the West-East gas transmission project. Oil equipment manufacturing products have been sold to more than 10 countries such as America and Indonesia. Especially in 2005, Daqing Oilfield has successfully purchased oil and gas exploration and production project rights in Tamsag Basin, Mongolia from SOCO Company in Britain. It takes the first key step for “going abroad”. 
 Science and technology is the life line for sustainable development of the enterprise. In recent years, facing difficulties and challenges in oilfield exploration and production, and facing the bottleneck of technical problems for enterprise development and production for the potential markets, all the oilfield has firmly implanted in it’s mind the philosophy that “resource is limited and science and technology is unlimited”, trying our best to take a new road to implement the strategy of rejuvenating the enterprise through science and technology, sustainable development, in the aim to improve the oilfield independent innovation, continuous innovation, challenge to reach the exploration and production’s limits, around the increment of recoverable reserves, improving oil recovery, and a focus on the implementation of the old oilfield development by secondary oil recovery and EOR technologies, effective development of the external field, Haila’er Basin reserves and production increasing by “the three major projects”, the high-tech new battle has been launched. The “Five Campaign” has been focused on the battles of oil and gas exploration and production, trying to find potential production in the old oilfield,  effectively explore and develop the external oilfields, the increment of reserves in Haila’er-Tamsag Basin, and using the high-tech technologies to promote industrial upgrading. Therefore, it can actively promote oilfield exploration and production and implement the scientific and technological development plan in the next ten years,among which, to carry out 9 supporting technological research projects, 11 specialized technologies, 6 technologies to explore reserves, 22 major field test projects in five aspects. All these core technologies can provide strengthful guarantee for realizing continuous and stable production of 40 million tons of crude oil output, it will accumulate valuable technical reserves and management experiences for keeping an advanced position in oil industry on science and technologies development for the next 10 to 20 years, and for the oilfield later exploration and production, and “going abroad to open up the international market”. Oilfield science and technology development still has a long way to go. In the new historical period, we would like to conduct foreign communication and international cooperation in science and technology widely, to strengthen itself in technical innovation system construction, to accelerate the step of scientific and research development on the main areas of business, to continuously upgrade the enterprises’ capability to participate in international market competitiveness, and to provide strong technical support for realizing the strategic objective of the enterprise, which is “to build a sustainable long productive oilfield”. |
