Part 5  Chemicals for Oilfield Water Treatment

CPTDC provides flocculants, scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors and bactericides, etc, to clarify wastewater, inhibit corrosion and scale and kill bacteria. These chemicals can protect formation from plugging and reduce down time.

 

1. Flocculant

Flocculant (XN)

XN is a yellow inorganic macromolecular compound. Both solid and liquid products are available. Its water solution shows faintly acidity. XN can be fed easily without using other additives. The water treated by XN is clear and its pH remains unchanged throughout the treatment. It can be applicable to a wide range of water temperature from 0 to 100 and the speed of floc forming is high (30-60 seconds).

  Application

XN is applied in treating waste water in rivers, oilfields, oil processing plants and paper mills.

HFI Series Flocculant

HFI flocculants are mainly made from alumina powder, belonging to inorganic macromolecule water purification agents. They have powerful bridging, absorption capabilities, along with characteristics of swift reaction speed, large floccule, fast moulding, and high fitration efficiency.

  Application

HFI flocculants can be used in the treatment of industrial wastewater, oilfield wasterwater and injected water, etc. They are effective to remove suspended solids, COD, BOD, chromaticity, oil dissolved in water, etc. The dosage is usually 50-100 mg/L, and should be decided on the results of the laboratory and field tests.

  Package

HFL (liquid) flocculant should be packed in plastic pails (25 kg for each). HFL (solid) flocculant should be packed in multiwall sacks (25 kg or 50 kg for each), with PE film lining inside.

  Safety

Store in a dry place.

2. Scale Inhibitor

HSI Series Scale Inhibitor

HSI series scale inhibitors are formulated mainly with organic polybasic phosphoric acid, and supplemented with other types of auxiliary agents. They are mainly used to inhibit carbonate scale and are perfectly stable at high pH value, and can form stable complex compound with metals such as iron, copper, zinc, aluminium, etc.

  Application

HSI scale inhibitors are suitable for anti-scale of circulation cooling water, industrial water, oilfield wastewater and injected water. They can also be used for anti-scale of gathering pipes of high water content cruck oil. The dosage is 5-10 mg/L. HIS (ordinary) scale inhibitor is required to be injected at upstream before the pressure and temperature are changed. HIS scale inhibitor (comcentrated) is required to be injected in either one of two liquids before they are mixed.

Deflocculant & Sequestrant (HS-323)

HS-323 is a Na salt made from polycarboxylate, low molecular weight polyacrylic acids and their corresponding sodium salts. It contains no phosphorous and can inhibit the deposition of calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate and other low solubility salts .It has good activity over a wide pH range, water hardness, temperature conditions and has excellent stability in the presence of hypochlorite.

Deflocculant & Sequestrant (HS-325)

HS-325 is a terpolymer of AA, AMPS and Sulphonate. It is a superior dispersant and stabilizer in all cooling water programs.

  Application 

The product can control boiler scale, ferric oxide and ferrous oxide in condensate water and formation water. It is a type of superior inorganic dispersant, keeping surfaces clean for maximum heat transfer. It can be used over a broad range of pH, temperature and pressure.

Scale and Corrosion Inhibitor (HS-510)

HS-510 can inhibit the deposition of calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate and barium sulfate.It can be used as salt stabilizer within a broad range of pH, temperature and pressure.

Maleic Acid Copolymer (HS-322)

HS-322 (MA/AA) is an aqueous solution of a polymer based on maleic anhydride. It provides excellent scale control in industrial cooling water systems. In combination with phosphonates, the product gives excellent control of calcium carbonate and calcium sulphate deposition, and can be applied to formulate cost-saving zinc-based corrosion inhibitor.

Hydrolyzed Polymaleic Anhydride (HPMA)

HPMA gives excellent scale control performance in industrial cooling water, boiler water, etc.Unlike other polymers which are applied under general water conditions, HPMA can specially used at critical water conditions such as high temperature, high alkalinity, high hardness for control of calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate depositions.

Diethylene Triamine Penta (Methylene Phosphonic Acid)

DTPMP is an organophosphorous compound offering excellent chelation of metal ions with common dosage. The ability of DTPMP to disperse solid particles makes it a versatile ingredient for applications requiring efficient metal ion control.

2-Phosphonobutane-1, 2, 4-Tricarboxylic Acid (PBTC)              

PBTC is a multifunctional molecule offering the properties of polyphosphates and aminocarboxylate chelating agent. It has excellent thermal hydrolytic stability compared  with polyphosphates.

3. Corrosion Inhibitor

Crrosion Inhibitor (CI-2)

The product is a kind of imidazole derivant with good solubility in water.

  Application

The product can inhibit the corrosion created by high salinity of oilfield produced water containing carbon dioxide H2S. It can effectively control the corrosion of tube and equipment caused by reinjected water. It has a good compatibility with other chemicals.

HCI Series Corrosion Inhibitor

The product is mainly formulated with imidazole derivant, and supplemented with adsorptive chemicals made of organic quaternary ammonium, polybasic phosphate ester, etc. By adding this agent, one stable and compact protection film can be formed.

4. Bactericide

Bactericide (KB-904)

KB-904 is a kind of high effective bactericide composed of quaternary ammonium salts and aldehydes. It is soluble completely in water (but not in oil) and can effectively control corrosion by S.R.B (sulfate reducing bacterium), and other bacteria in oil field injected water system.

  Application

HBA Series Bactericide

The products are made of dodecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride supplemented with other oilfield auxiliary agents. HBA bactericides are widely adaptable and powerful to control sulfate reducing bacterium, saprophytic bacteria and ferric bacteric, especially when bacteria in water are drug-fast.
