Part 13 Drill Bits CPTDC can provide all kinds of drill bits including roller cone bits, diamond bits, mining bits and engineering bits, which have novel structures and suitable for various formations. China has the largest R&D and manufacturing base of drill bits in Asia, developed the “simulation analysis system for rock bit performance” and the die exploitation system based on 3D software Pro/E, and established the CAD/CAPP/CAE/CAM integrated design platform. Most of the Chinese manufacturers of bits are equipped with numerically-controlled and specialized equipment and possess advanced technology such as flexible manufacturing system (FMS) and heat treatment technology with nitrogen base controllable atmosphere. They have established mature quality assurance system which is API or ISO 9001 certified and their products are API monogrammed. CPTDC has provided the China-made drill bits to Europe, USA, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and CIS.   1. Roller Cone Bits Through 20 years´ independent R&D after the introduction of world class bit manufacture and design technologies in 1980s, China has developed its new and advanced series of roller cone bits, including the series of floating seal, floating bearing, MD high speed motor bits, dual water course, low nozzle and equally worn teeth. Our roller cone bits for oil well drilling have novel structures and are classified into 1000 types in 18 series, with the size ranging from 3-3/4 to 26 inches, which can be used for drilling various formations from soft to very hard and can meet different drilling requirement both in China and abroad. The series of single cone bits are specifically developed to meet special drilling requirements (such as side tracking and old well deepening,). They have the following features: ● Using two-stage gages protection of the cone and bit body with active cutting gage protection compacts inserted on the bit body. ● Double (main and auxiliary) water course structure is used for the hydraulic system with a jet nozzle and a divergent nozzle and optimized nozzle combination.

3. Mining Bits K series bits are non-sealed roller bearing bits that are cooled and cleaned by air. The main structure features include: Utilization of carbide compacts with high strength, high toughness for increasing impact strength and wear resistance for reducing compact breakage Optimized number of compact rows and total number of cutters Cutter exposure and compact shape to maximize the cutting ability and the cutting speed of the bit Adequate heat-treated bearing surface to increase the bearing capacity and service life The thrust bearing to further increase the overall bearing capacity, improve the air circulation condition inside the bearing cavity and reduce the temperature in the cavity The air-water separator can prevent water or cuttings from entering the bearing cavity through waterway or nozzles while supplying cooling air to the bearing. Statically placed nozzles are advantageous to thoroughly clean the bottom hole, and the nozzle diameter can be selected according to specific air pressure and flow rate. Optimum designed head shape provides maximum space to remove the cuttings out of the bottom hole and increase the penetration rate Head O.D. is well protected by additional carbide compacts and special hard-facing  4. Two-Stage Roller Cone Bits for Water Well The advanced design and manufacture technologies for tri-cone bits for oil well drilling are suitable for large diameter water well and geothermal well drilling operations. The main features include: Two-stage cone structures can achieve higher ROP under lower WOB. Complete set of cones placement allows thorough break down of the rocks at the bottom hole. Reaming bit connection parts are machined to ensure diameter, pegleg and concentricity requirements of the bit. With the advanced hardfacing technology, the wear resistance of the teeth is improved. By using the compacts of high toughness and excellent wear resistance, the impact strength of the compacts on insert bit is increased and the breakage rate of the compacts is reduced. A pad in front of each cone of the reaming bit can prevent the loss of cone. 
5. Hobbing Bits for Rock Breaking The rock breaking hobbers can be assembled into hobbing bits of various sizes, which are suitable for large diameter engineering drilling operation. Optimized hobber placement allows that the hobbers achieve the higher penetration rate under lower WOB. Advanced steel cutter hardfacing technology increases the wear resistance of the cutters. Insert hobber utilizes compacts with high toughness and excellent wear resistance and can increases the impact capacity. The application of reliable sealing structure and new type of grease with low friction make the bits can sustain high temperature. Once damaged, the hobber can be replaced on site and the maintenance is very easy.  6. Drilling Hammers and Bits This drill bit is designed specially for mines, water conservancy projects, building and road making projects. Downhole drilling hammers are widely used in mines, hydropower station, railway, roadway, construction of water-well and stone work. Model JZ high air pressure downhole drilling hammers and bits are of large penetration and efficiency. Hammer and bits can drill holes of 105-864mm in diameter under various conditions.
