Part 3 Rig Components
14. Mud Pumps
  The Chinese manufacturers are authorized by LTV Energy Product Company of the US in 1985 to manufacture F-500, F-800 and F-1000 mud pumps. Those mud pumps are manufactured in accordance with LTV Co.’s drawings and documents and conform to LTV Co.’s technical requirements.
  On the basis of the imported technology, the Chinese manufacturers designed and manufactured F-1300, F-1600, F-1600L, F-1600HL, F-2200, F-2200HL mud pumps, which conform to API 7K specifications.
 

  F-Series pumps are rated at long stroke length and relatively low strokes per minute, thus they improve the suction performance and increase the service life of the expendable parts on the fluid end.

 
 

  ● Features
  Continuous tooth herringbone gear
  One-piece alloy steel crankshaft
  Renewable crosshead guides
  Frame fabricated with steel plate weldments
  Double compartmentalized construction for extension rod packing.
  Power end utilizing the combination lubrication system of forced lubrication and splash lubrication
  The fluid end consists of three interchangeable forged valve over valve construction, which can be nickel plated according to customers’ requirement.
  Liner are positioned by screwed pot covers
  F-1300/1600 mud pumps are equipped with a hoisting device for easy replacement of liners from the frame top.
 
   Power End
  Continuous tooth herringbone gear
  Alloy steel crankshaft
  Renewable crosshead guides
  Welded steel plate frame with high strength, good rigidity and light weight
  Extension rod of double compartmentalized construction with excellent sealing performance.
  Combination lubrication system of forced lubrication and splash lubrication
  Frame
  The frame is made of steel plate by welding and stress-relieved to provide the good rigidity and the high strength.
  Strengthening structure of stiffening rib is used at the crankshaft bearing.
  Necessary oil basin and the lubricating system are provided in the frame for cooling and lubricating.
   Crank Shaft
  The crankshaft, a casted alloy steel eccentric shaft, is furnished with herringbone ring gear, connection rods and bearings. The ring gear bore and the crankshaft surface is of interference fit and fastened with bolts and lock nuts.The big end of each connection rod is mounted on each eccentric strap of the crankshaft via the single row short cylindrical roller bearing. The small end of each connection rod is mounted on the crosshead pin via the double row long cylindrical roller bearing. Double row radial spherical roller bearings are mounted on either end of the crankshaft.
 

 
  Pinion Shaft
  The pinion shaft is made of forged alloy steel. A small herringbone gear with the medium-hard teeth surface is machined on the shaft surface. For easy maintenance,
  single row radial long cylindrical roller bearings without any inner ring rib are used. Pinion shaft ends are prolonged so that sheaves or sprockets can be mounted on either end.
 

 
  Crosshead and Extension Rod
  The crosshead and the extension rod are made of ASTM A48-83 meehanite cast iron featuring good abrasion resistance and long service life.
 

 
  ● Fluid End
  Each sealing part adopts rigidity compaction and has good high pressure tightness.
  Vertical fluid end features good suction performance.
  L type fluid end features high pressure resistance, convenient for replacing valve assembly.
  Pulsation dampener, relief valve, and discharge strainer are fitted at discharge outlet.
 

 
   Cylinders Module
  Cylinders are made of forged alloy steel. Three cylinders of each pump can be interchangeable. The valve-over-valve design reduces the cylinder volume and improves the volumetric efficiency.
  The cylinder surface can be nickel plated to strengthen the corrosion resistance.
 

 

  Valve Assembly
  The suction valve and the discharge valve are interchangeable.
  F-500 mud pump uses API 5# valves.
  F-800 and F-1000 mud pumps use API 6# valves.
  F-1300, F-1600 and F-1600HL mud pumps use API 7# valves.
  F-2200 and F-2200HL mud pumps use API 8# valves.
  Liners
  Bi-metal liners with high abrasion and corrosion resistance are used. The liner sleeve is made of wear resisting cast iron. The surface hardness of the liner sleeve is HRC 60 to 65. The sleeve bore is honed to a mirror finish.
  Piston and Piston Rod
  The piston is sealed by the rubber O-ring along with the cylindrical surface fit and then is tightened by lock nuts, preventing the piston from looseness and acting as the sealing.
